Skye Windfarm Information Group
Please object to Ben Sca, Beinn Mheadhonach, Glen Ullinish 2, Balmeanach, Broadford Workers’ Camp and Ashaig Blade Storage now.
The quick easy way to object:
In each email say why you object eg:
“I object to the planned (insert wind farm name here) because it’s massive scale will overwhelm Skye’s beautiful world famous landscape” (Say what you like here – one sentence is enough)
IMPORTANT.
Include the heading and the planning reference from the relevant paragraph below. Also include your name, address and postcode on the emails!
JOB DONE!! Thank you so much.
(To make a more detailed objection scroll down to table below.)
Ben Sca Redesign:
A plan to increase the height of seven turbines from 135m to 149.9m in height which will have significant major/moderate adverse impact on residents of Edinbane, Kildonan and Flashader.
Write an email to eplanning@highland.gov.uk with the heading “Objection to Ben Sca Redesign: 24/01404/FUL”
Beinn Mheadhonach:
Beinn Mheadhonach is 300m high, so the tips of the turbine blades will be 450m above sea level. Clearly visible from the Cuillin ridge, Portnalong, Carbost, the Western Isles etc.
Write an email to eplanning@highland.gov.uk with the heading: “Objection to Beinn Mheadhonach Wind Farm – 23/05638/FUL”
Glen Ullinish:
This is the biggest wind farm proposed for Skye – 47 turbines, 200m high.
- Write an email to Representations_Mailbox@gov.scot with the heading:”Objection to Glen Ullinish 2 Wind Farm: ECU 00004829″
- Write an email to eplanning@highland.gov.uk with the heading:”Objection to Glen Ullinish 2 Wind Farm: 23/03945/S36″
Broadford Workers’ Camp
This is a proposal by Sodexo, working on behalf of SSEN, for a camp to house 350 workers to build the Broadford and Edinbane Substations which are an essential part of the proposed Skye Reinforcement Overhead Power Line. The power line does not yet have planning permission following the Highland Council’s objection in November 2023. The Scottish Government has yet to grant the Public inquiry that is due following this objection.
Write an email to eplanning@highland.gov.uk with the heading: “Objection to the Broadford Temporary Workers Accommodation Camp (24/05143FUL)”
Ashaig Blade Storage
Proposal by the Highland Council to use land at Broadford Aerodrome for temporary storage of wind farm components. It is anticipated that this facility would be used for wind farms on the mainland where components are unloaded at Kyle Harbour, and for the wind farms proposed on Skye.
The advertised cut off date for objections/representations is 7th February 2025 although we can object until the Planning Committee meeting where the application is considered.
Write an email to eplanning@highland.gov.uk with the heading: “Objection to temporary lay down and storage area for wind farm components (24/05026/FUL)”
Balmeanach:
Right next to the existing Edinbane wind farm. This wind farm would be 10 turbines x 150m high, which would “close the gap” between it and the confirmed Ben Sca wind farm. A continuous line of turbines!
Write an email to eplanning@highland.gov.uk with the heading: “Objection to Balmeanach Wind Farm: 23/04194/FUL”
To object you can email eplanning@highland.gov.uk or write to:
The Highland Council, Eplanning, Headquarters, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness. IV3 5NX.
